A Case Study: Inter-American Development Bank
The IDB invests in large infrastructure projects throughout Latin America. When an investment was destroyed within a year of completion due to a catastrophic flood, they decided to implement climate safeguards to keep their investments safe. Since this was a new approach for them, they hired Sobis to help integrate climate considerations into their existing process and pilot this new process for three real investments. This support has led to developing a toolkit for different sectors within the IDB and training for internal IDB staff and potential borrowers.
